You can clamp a board horizontally should you want to work flat at table height, and the box will actually carry an A2 board with a wet painting on it, without touching any paper stored flat in the lid.
Everything stows in or around the box.
...or side-saddle, with your materials again, just where you need them.
Full length, the easel will take a 6'canvas, or enable you to sit up close to your work.
