The different configurations are all arrived at by varying the mast assembly, the length of the legs, and through use of the donkey mast/ stabilising leg bracket.
When assembling or stowing the mast see that the mouth of the central C shape faces out
Undo mast pieces clamped to the box
Take A. Slide sleeve to end of pole.
Abut B to A. Slide sleeve over protruding A pole.
Turn mast over and clamp from top end, just to grip.
Want a longer mast? Before clamping, slide in short leg at top...
...and short sleeve at bottom.
clamping mast facing forwards
Bevel needs to be touching back edge of mast for maximum rigidity.
clamping mast facing backwards
Turn over clamp and overlap gap between mast sleeve and mast slot.
It is a good idea to slide on the cross members before attaching the mast to the box.
These will extend so that the box top is at table height (29"), the normal position for all easel configurations.
When extending donkey legs for uneven ground you need to use the U brackets supplied, clamped up against the base of the box.
Tip: When you release a leg clamp, let it slide down the leg, rather than hanging on to it while adjusting the leg extension, to avoid the annoyance of it slipping off the top.
donkey mast/stabilising leg bracket
The short sleeve and cross member need to be put on the stabilising leg before attaching it to the bracket when using the easel full length (facing backwards).
This gives you the required angles for the donkey mast and the easel stabilising leg.
The other end of the bracket slides onto the bottom of the central easel mast slot for the stabilising leg....
...or the top of the front donkey leg or the horizontal rail on the box top, for choice of angle and proximity of your work in the donkey mode.
normal donkey board support assembly
A Slide short sleeve right down mast and clamp (just to grip).
B Put mast brace and board support together loosely, slot in and slide down.
Note: If you like your board higher you can put the brace and board support on separately.
working at a shallower angle
The mast slides in on the top rail and the brace anchors between the back of the small mast sleeve and the donkey leg. Slide sleeve down mast to position the brace correctly.
